Securely access remote LAN devices without opening inbound firewall ports
Reach the devices at a remote location without exposing them through port forwarding
ISP Tracker Remote Access Service provides encrypted remote access through any ISP Tracker hardware agent. It can be enabled from the ISP Tracker dashboard, so no separate remote-access appliance is required. An inexpensive RAS data package is required when Remote Access Service is used. Authorized administrators can reach routers, firewalls, controllers, cameras, appliances, and other LAN devices without creating inbound firewall port-forwarding rules.
This is useful for remote offices, equipment rooms, unattended locations, customer sites, network equipment, and other places where someone might otherwise need to travel just to access a device.
Remote access that works alongside monitoring
The same ISP Tracker hardware agent already monitoring the Internet connection can also provide Remote Access Service when remote access is needed, without requiring someone to travel to the location immediately.
This allows organizations to add remote access to an existing hardware monitoring location without installing another device.
Avoid unnecessary Internet exposure
Opening an inbound port does not automatically make a network insecure, but it can create unnecessary Internet exposure and another port-forwarding rule to manage. RAS is designed to avoid that requirement for supported remote-access use cases.
Access is controlled through the agent dashboard, where administrators configure the devices that may be reached and the public IP addresses permitted to connect.
Set up profiles for the devices you need to reach
Create one or more profiles from the hardware agent dashboard for different devices on the remote LAN. A profile identifies the device’s private LAN IP address, the port to use, and the public IP address allowed to connect.
When Remote Access Service is enabled for a configured profile, the dashboard provides the encrypted connection for that device.
Remote access when you need it
RAS is useful when an administrator needs to reach a specific LAN device at a remote location. It does not replace a VPN in every situation; it provides practical access to configured equipment when that is needed.
Alongside continuous Internet monitoring, Remote Access Service can help a remote location stay observable and easier to investigate when something needs attention.
