Internet problems disappear quickly. The evidence should not
Many Internet problems do not last long enough for an engineer to investigate them while they are happening.
A connection may fail for seconds, recover, change paths, or experience a recurring problem several times before anyone starts troubleshooting.
By then, a manual traceroute may look perfectly normal. The provider may see nothing unusual. Users simply know that something went wrong.

Learn how the Internet paths behind your providers normally behave
Internet traffic can traverse multiple networks between a location and its destination.
Those paths can change over time because of provider routing, network conditions, failures, traffic engineering and other factors.
ISP Tracker can build a history of the networks observed along those paths and recognize recurring patterns.
That means a route change does not make monitoring less useful.
Over time, changing routes become part of the information being monitored.
If a connection normally follows one set of observed network paths but repeatedly experiences degradation while another path is present, that becomes an investigative lead.
If several monitored locations show a related change at approximately the same time, the evidence becomes more interesting.
If comparable monitored locations do not experience the same problem, they provide additional context.

SD-WAN can automatically move traffic between available connections and network paths when conditions change.
That is one of its greatest strengths, but successful path changes can also make transient Internet problems difficult to reconstruct afterward.
The application may stay available because SD-WAN routed around a degraded connection, while the IT team is still left asking:
- What happened to the original path?
- Was this an isolated event or a recurring problem?
- Did the same network behavior affect other locations?
- Did performance improve when the path changed?
